1. How did you first learn about “The iDOLM@STER”? What were your first impressions?
Back in high school, my family moved around Asia a lot due to my parents’ work, and I ended up going to different schools in different countries a lot. I absolutely loved being in Shanghai back then as I was in a great school with great people, and had to move to the Philippines causing a decently long period of depression.
At this point, an online friend linked me to Mahou wo Kakete by Haruka, Ritsuko and Yukiho to cheer me up somehow, and it kinda did. I didn’t get into deep at first, but after getting to know Nicovideo I ended up finding out about things like Go My Way and the rest, as they say, is history.
2. Have you played any of the idolm@ster games? Which is your favorite?
I’ve done arcademas, SP, Shiny Festa, 2, OFA in addition to Cinderella Girls, Million Live and sideM. I also did the iMobile game while living in Japan.
OFA has to be my favourite as I finally get to produce Iori properly in a console game. That doesn’t SP-styled annoying vocal lessons. The way they release extra scenarios as DLC was actually a great way to expand the girls’ background as the extra scenarios are done amazingly well.
THE iMobile game is also great cause after a certain affection level, πtouching will not cause your idol to get mad at you!
3. Which idol is your favorite and why?
Iori.
Iorin’s greatest asset is the fact that she is willing to work hard so that she won’t lose to her family. She wants to be able to be proud of her achievements, her actual achievement from hard work and guts, and this is why she ended up becoming an idol. She can basically get whatever she wants using her family’s power and authority, but she decided to go with 765 Pro, a small agency with only 13 idols under its management. Iorin doesn’t want other people to know the amount of effort she puts into everything she does so that she can prove her own strength to her family and herself.
She cares a lot about her friends, and she WILL use her family’s power if its for their sake. Iorin is also professional and realistic, especially considering her age. This is why she shows her cute side to the fans, and only shows her stricter side when dealing with her fellow idols.
I’m really attracted to this pride of hers. Wanting to be proud of whatever you achieve using your own power is something I want to be able to do. I idolise her because of the way she works hard to get whatever it is she wants to get even though she can already get that through the power of other people.
4. What is your favorite idolm@ster song and why?
my song.
– This my song MAD: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm13161259
– Her my song live performance from the 5th live: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm15039556
During my period of depression, I found myself listening to this song a lot while appreciating its lyrics to the fullest. The way its saying that both happy things and sad things that happened in the past will all be memories, and to keep on walking forever along the unknown path until you become a new you really got into me, and it really helped me fight against my depression.
5. What’s your favorite aspect of the idolm@ster series?
Everything. The games, the anime, the radio shows, the characters, the CVs, Kugyuu, Mocho, the staff, fellow producers.
I’ve never seen a franchise with this much love around it, not just from the fans, but from the people related to the franchise. The franchise is a work of love, and I’ve never seen a franchise where a bunch of people with different backgrounds and circumstances can go to an offkai together and shout “KUGYUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU” after kanpaiing.
6. When and how did you become a “Producer”? That is, when did you consider yourself an idolm@ster fan?
After watching Kugyuu’s my song performance from the 5th anniversary live. That performance really resonated with me.
The second moment is probably during episode 25 of the anime. I was hospitalised due to typhoid as the episode aired, and was still unable to get out so I had to watch it in the hospital and the episode was just really exciting. It made me feel like I can support this franchise forever.
7. Have you ever been to an idolm@ster live concert? Please share your experience or any particularly special memories if so.
For solo lives I’ve been to the 7th Anniversary, Music Festival of Winter, 8th Anniversary (Yokohama & Makuhari) and Million Live 1st HAPPY PERFORMANCE. I’ve blogged about them using atalude before, but that site is no longer there.
7th was my very first imas live, and its special. Azumin’s shout of “YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!” made me realise that I was actually in an imas live and teared up.
8th was the first imas live I went to with good friends. And they even recorded our voice for the movie!
And Happy Performance is special to me since it was the only imas live I went to in 2014. Also Mocho. Kidochan’s jibun restart was also beyond belief too.
8. Do you play any of the mobile game series such as Cinderella Girls and Million Live?
I play both CG and ML, ML more seriously (I actually spend money on it sometimes). I also do a bit of sideM I guess.
9. Are you watching the Cinderella Girls anime? What are your thoughts?
Yeah, I’m really enjoying it AND NOT JUST FOR THAT ONE RIKA AND MIRIA SCENE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA I SWEAR. The Ranko episode was so much fun, and then that whole Dekoration episode was also the best, amazing use of ORANGE SAPPHIRE PASSION. The finale was so much fun too, really looking forward to what’s in store for the next season. ALSO really looking forward to experiencing GOIN’ live
10. Do you have any favorite seiyuu related to the idolm@ster series?
I have two major ones (and Kidochan but my love for Kidochan stems from non imas things so)
Rie Kugimiya: Something about her voice just clicks with me. I can’t
really explain why, but I’ve always liked her characters. The way she portrays someone who is vulnerable inside, but tries their best to hide it and tries their best to look as if they can do anything is awesome. Her normal laugh is contagious, and the way she makes cute noises while listening/responding to whatever is just adorable.
It wasn’t due to her that I got to know imas (Haruka/Yukiho/Ritsuko’s Mahou wo Kakete was how), but it was thanks to her that I started falling really deep into this endless hole that is imas. Not too long ago, I had to deal with random bouts of depression due to whatever, and during this period, Iorin’s ballads (futari no kioku, my song) had this healing effect that completely calms me down. Thanks to this, my song ended up becoming my absolute favourite song ever.
You can’t help but explore and research the things you like, and this happened to me as I got exposed to more and more iorin song. For some reason, just by listening to her voice, all of that negativity that was bundled inside starts going away.
Mocho: Literally the personification of happiness. She’s amazing. Go read this: http://basudayo.tumblr.com/post/107089827905/seiyuu-map-of-the-future-asakura-momo
11. Shout out your love about the idolm@ster series, say anything you’d like!

12. [From ShinP] How does one practice responsible DD‘ing? I notice that there are individuals who designate the title of wife to just about every seiyuu they come across and fancy, to the point it seems to diminish its sanctity and meaning entirely. Or could it be just me who is incapable of loving several individuals with equal intensity? Would it be better in this case to assign each of them a value, where one wife could be more wife than the other? Then again, wouldn’t this be unfair to them? What are your thoughts?
To clarify, a wife in this case is just a corruption of the word 推し (oshi). Love is not a finite resource and so anyone is free to love any number of people they want to love and I feel that the sanctity of the word does not get diminished as the feeling of love itself isn’t something that diminishing returns really applies to.
Like gunpla, there is freedom in the way of expressing your love while supporting your oshi/wife, some people buy multiple CDs and build shrines out of them, while other people watches terrible shows just to see/hear their favourite person act. There are also people who devote their time following all kinds of radio shows and or niconama streams with their oshi in it.
If you feel like you’re able to assign a quantitative value to a qualitative measure (in this case, love) feel free and do so. You say that its unfair to others, but then again with this matter its hard to be subjective, case in point let’s take anime as an example. Not everyone’s oshi/wife will appear in a lot of shows, so the only exposure they’ll be able to get is through other methods, be it through niconama streams or radio shows, even blog articles and tweets. Say you want to love everyone equally and dedicate an equal amount of time you spend on everyone of your wives, this gets hard when the amount of things they appear in is rare. This will in turn lead to you spending more of your time on some of your oshis and not enough on others, but then again its not physically possible for you to actually do that due to them not appearing in anything!
If you feel like you can only love a person deeply, then go for it! But don’t think that liking more than one person diminishes the amount of love you have! There is no wrong answer, just trust your heart.

13. Say something about the next interviewed person (karagea), also please ask them a question.
I do not have much knowledge about kara other than the fact that he really really really likes Yuiton and Aikatsu while also Priparaing due to Yuiton.
My question to Kara is related to her, if you were able to see her directly (in say a handshake session), what kind of pun would you say to her to make sure she remembers you forever?

Ok fine, I’ll do a real-ish intro. Basu is basically the first P who was also interested in seiyuu and events that I met. I came across his old 7th anniversary live blog post by chance before I met him and needless to say was very jealous! Somehow I’d come to meet him over twitter later so you could say he’s the P I’ve known him for the longest and despite being someone I’ve never met in person consider a very important 仲間. How embarrassing! Here’s Mocho.
Moving around Asia sounds really cool!
