Better Know a Producer #03: vota

votaP

#03 in the Better Know a Producer series, another resident P from Canada known as vota! The first time I met vota was at Anime North 2014. I only really knew him as a general seiyuu fan but he seemed interested and willing to learn more about im@s and after some enabling a small push he’s become a greater im@s fan and another member of HPT himself! (I cannot be held responsible for any damages his wallet may have suffered)

1. How did you first learn about “The iDOLM@STER”? What were your first impressions?

Friend told me about “The iDOLM@STER” a year before animas came out. Was curious and started listening to the music and I loved it. Wasn’t too sure if I wanted to go down this rabbit hole, so I stayed away. I always had a interest in the series due to the seiyuus involved, so I decided to follow im@s very casually.

2. Have you played any of the idolm@ster games? Which is your favorite?

I only have played Shiny Festa, so that would be my favourite I guess. Haven’t started OFA yet… should probably fix that soon™

3. Which idol is your favorite and why?

Yayoi is my favourite due to her personality and hair style. Yayoi is an optimistic youjo, who enjoys helping others; what’s not to like?! I guess I can relate to her being somewhat poor and supporting her family too, since I also have a very LARGE family who need financial aid. Also, I guess I can see a lot of myself in Yayoi, especially when it comes to money.469035-36

4. What is your favorite idolm@ster song and why?

Kiramekirari takes the cake easily. Very upbeat and energetic song that gets me turnt up. The live performance and calls for this song is quite hype. Also, watching  other idols trying to do the dance other than Mayochon is a pleasant sight to see!

5. What’s your favorite aspect of the idolm@ster series?

In regards to the anime series, every girl had a turn to shine, which made them very remember-able. I also like how this series is timeless, you can watch any episode in any order and still enjoy it.

For everything else, the im@s series provides great entertainment for all. Good music that’s complimented with awesome live events. The support from the staff, fans and others makes someone being apart of this fandom worth while.

6. When and how did you become a “Producer”? That is, when did you consider yourself an idolm@ster fan?

Became a “Producer” after HaramiNorth’14. Was kinda hesitant becoming a P though. I was always a fan of the music, but wasn’t sure if I should take the plunge. After attending the offkai that Exciel organized, and found out there’s a lot of really nice people in this fandom. t’was great meeting the kaigaiPs and japanesePs that year. Hmm, I guess prnd and ‘suke helped me realize that I was a YayoiP too.

7. Have you ever been to an idolm@ster live concert? Please share your experience or any particularly special memories if so.

Sadly I haven’t been to a im@s live concert yet… tentative planning to go to 10th and CG 3rd live though if no conflicts occur. I did see Harami and other im@s girls perform outside the franchise though, and it was FANTASTIC!

8. Do you play any of the mobile game series such as Cinderella Girls and Million Live?

Yes, I play Cinderella Girls and Million Live very casually. Roba is the one to blame for making me start these mobage. Uh, probably going to invest more time into CG due to the anime being out and all… not sure how long I’ll play since I do get bored quite quickly.

9. Are you watching the Cinderella Girls anime? What are your thoughts?

Yes, I am watching dereani. Having already heard the character CDs already released, you get some sort of idea how each character acts with each other. Seeing the girls develop over time in the anime is always fun to watch. Also, you get to notice characters you didn’t before and slowly start appreciating them. I’m always wow’d every week, and wishing it would be Friday everyday.

p.s. TakeP a cutie pie.

10. Do you have any favorite seiyuu related to the idolm@ster series?

I have plenty of favourite seiyuus related to this series, but if I had to choose one it would be Asapon. Pon is very energetic, hilarious, and animated in her performances. Has a great personality, funny face expressions, and can literally voice majority of the cast! If I wasn’t a YayoiP already, I would totes be a Ami/MamiP just because of her. She is literally the best and I can’t wait to see her at PonNorth’15.

11. Shout out your love about the idolm@ster series, say anything you’d like!

Thanks for being a seiyuu gold mine, just kidding (not really). The iDOLM@STER series has an awesome staff support, great music and good people in this fandom. Already being a Liver/Wugner, being a P holds very dear to me and I hope I can keep this passion going for the years coming. I got to forge new bonds with others who I have never met before, and I really appreciate it!

12. [From Kurotsuki] What kind of idol would Mikakoshi (Komatsu Mikako) voice ?

Ideally Mikakoshi might be a cute idol, but deep down she would be a cool type imo. The image of cool really fits Koshi; can be seen in her roles, songs and appearance. Not even I can look as good as her wearing a fedora/hats w. Koshi is able to leave a strong impression with her vocals and look Ikemen at the same time. That’s why she would voice a cool type idol over the others.

13. Say something about the next interviewed person (Seraph), also please ask them a question.

Seraph is a Canadian homie who currently resides in Montreal with the oh so famous/average, Kurotsuki. Even though I haven’t met him in-person, I can tell he’s a good person. Some might call him loud, talkative, Lewd of the North, but I call him a bro. It has come to my attention that you just put added Mayayan to your list recently. Since you are neglecting your other wives, does this mean I can take Yukachin off you!? Hmm… you’ll probably say no ;A;

So my question to you, Seraph, is: Can you briefly explain why you like Mayayan (Uchida Maaya) without lewding her?

  1. I have to say, out of all the P name cards I’ve colleted so far Vota’s design is by far the most appealing, if not memorable. Hopefully I can learn a thing or two from you about doing the same!

No offense to all the other P’s cards, of course. Each has its own appeal!
